As I was taking a couple fo the kids up the canyon tonight to go fishing I got stopped at one of those Sheriff’s Office Sobriety Checkpoints where they were stopping every car entering or leaving the canyon. That’s a first for me. I’ve read about them before, but never experienced one. I guess I can list that among my life experiences now.
I drove through one on one of my rare sober days. Now that was sobering- and lucky. 😉
I’ll bet. I’d hate to see one of those checkpoints if I was not sober.
Coming back from a mission farewell in Alpine, we followed a clearly inebriated individual coming out of American Fork Canyon. I hope he didn’t hurt anyone.
I had a similar experience back in the days before cell phones. When we got out of the canyon we stopped at a pay phone to call the police. The man was arrested and I testified at his trial. I am ever so grateful that we took those actions. He was planning on driving another 40 miles through another winding canyon. It was inconvenient, but it beats the heck out of hoping he wouldn’t hurt anyone.
Thanks for the stories to prove why it’s worth the inconvenience of being stopped infrequently as part of a universal sweep.
